Black and White: Spring Style

Happy spring everyone!

Here in New England, just because its officially spring we may not be free of snow quite yet. The few 40+ degree days we’ve had so far have been amazing and refreshing, but I’ve noticed a lot of people taking the nicer weather to extreme measures when it comes to their outfits. No joke, I’ve seen people wearing flip flops, shorts, tank tops, etc. in temperatures between 40-50 degrees. Although it makes me over the moon to see the temperatures slowly rise, it makes me cringe when I see people dressed for summer this time of year, they must be freezing! I think that it is important to dress appropriately for the season and the weather collectively. That’s why I love that black and white fashion is big this spring. We all own black and white clothing because it is so multi-seasonal and diverse that it will never go out of style. I especially like this trend for early spring because you can incorporate both winter and spring pieces to complete this look, and be dressed for the current windy, rainy, and muddy weather conditions. This season its all about black and white prints. What better way to try something new than in black and white. Experiment with a print on top, bottom, or head to toe, this classic color combination will never get old.

1) Tops: If you’re afraid of print then doing it in black and white is a perfect way to ease into it. A print can be as bold as a large floral or as subtle as a striped t-shirt. Even a color blocked top will add some dimension to your outfit. If you want, you can keep your bottom half solid, which can also make room for a more dramatic print on top.

There are so many possibilities for black and white on top of your outfit and you can pair it with virtually anything you choose, just make sure if you are mixing prints on top and bottom you keep them similar so your outfit isn’t too overwhelming.

2) Bottoms: Black and white bottoms can be so classic and chic, you can go completely bold and try something unexpected, or keep things simple with a black and white gingham or a stripe accent down the leg, whatever you are comfortable in you will be making a trendy statement.

While wearing a bold print on the bottom, you’ll want to keep your top half simple with a solid black or white. Although this trend is head to toe black and white, you can mix and match these pieces with anything and wear them on so many different occasions. If you want to add a pop of color anything will match perfectly because your bottom half is completely neutral.

3) Head to Toe: If you have trouble finding similar pieces to match together, then a dress or jumpsuit is a perfect option. Like the above choices, pick something that won’t be too overwhelming on your body type. Be bold or subtle, however you’re comfortable, you will look amazing in this classic combination.

The black and white trend is so great for this time of year because you probably already have the pieces to make it happen! If you want to try something new, you’ll be able to wear it over and over again and pair it with different things each time. No matter how simple or loud your taste is, you will be incredibly put together, whether you are at work, out for lunch, or at a bar.
